Tucked away in the foothills of Austin, Texas, is the iconic Barr Mansion. Known for decades as a long standing wedding venue, Barr Mansion has held countless ceremonies and soirees. Alison and Mike were married on a cool spring day with the colors of lilac, jade, and pink as their timeless backdrop. Designed by incredible women at Plan on it Events & Design, this wedding is not one you should miss!
Now that we’re based in Washington, D.C., Photographing weddings in Austin, Texas is a bit like a homecoming. It’s where Jenny and I met, and it’s where we were married ourselves. But don’t let the southern charm fool you, this Texan wedding was filled with luxury treatment for the guests and gorgeous florals–you’d think it was a fête thrown for some of DC’s Finest.
Surrounded by friends and family, the ceremony was lavish with florals by Petals Ink. Plan on it accomplished such a beautiful ceremony, and the space was airy, light, and filled with a cool spring breeze.
Following the ceremony, we partied the night away in wonderful celebration. This wedding joined together multiple cultures and religions: Mike and Alison did so with taste and design. Blending traditions from a jewish wedding and traditions from a modern American wedding, it felt rich with culture and love. The band played all night long, and we didn’t want it to end. It was truly a wonderful day.
Also, Alison got up and sang with the band! What a way to end the night. It was such a surprise, and she a wonderful voice. After that, they exited to a sea of bubbles and cheers from the crowd. It was EPIC.
